Our Approach

Ever wish you had someone who understood your
work, your goals and your content and could bring
it all to life? It’s good to meet you too.

How we approach projects

We are your partners in meaning-making. To create shared meaning, we have brought together a team with expertise across systems thinking, visual language and data. This unique blend of capabilities helps your teams get clear on what their content means, distil that meaning into a set of visuals that can be widely shared, and interact with the data that underlies those visuals through an intuitive platform.

Our work is built on understanding how humans experience the world – we use visuals because humans are visual. Our unique methodology and brilliant team help you unlock the benefits and momentum that come from aligning mental models. If your projects seem stuck, your teams frustrated or your documents full of empty words – we have found another way. Our clients come away recognising what meaning looks like, and never go back to the way things were before.

Our core capabilities

Conceptual modelling

Understanding outcomes, interviewing key staff, reviewing documents, analysing data.

Visual modelling

Structuring content, constructing an ontology, creating a visual composition, layering data over a map.

Interaction design

Building user journeys, iterating with feedback, measuring outcomes, enabling the conversation.

What is our process?

Our process starts and ends with your outcomes. Whose mental models are you aligning? What conversation are they now able to have? What is different because of this work? After we’ve scoped the shared meaning you want to create, we deep dive into analysis. At this stage, we ask a lot of questions, read a lot of documents, interview key people and start modelling your content. With clarity around the parts and how they fit into a whole, we move into visual thinking and data structure. Our team will work on various elements (depending on the desired outcomes): composing the visuals, creating the ontology, structuring the data, uploading early versions into our online mapping platform and iterating based on feedback.

We then build and test the user interaction with the outputs, uploading the visuals, setting up map features, refining user journeys, surfacing the data, telling the stories and resolving problems as we go.

We then hand over your shared meaning toolkit – visuals, presentations, and online maps – so that your team is equipped to continue the strategic, delivery and behavioural changes that shared meaning has made possible.
